Fun at the Modesto Library

Children ages 4 - 18 will have the opportunity to build LEGO displays for the library. LEGO play helps children develop fine motor skills. Children under 4 are welcome, but must have direct adult supervision.

We are celebrating author Mo Willems ALL WEEK February 9 -14. If you find Pigeon in the room you can get a prize. You can also stop by at anytime to make your own Pigeon hat or take your picture in a giant book. Special Story Times featuring Piggie, Gerald & Pigeon on February 10 at 6:15 p.m. and February 11 at 10:15 a.m.

Crazy 8's Math Club: Time of Your Life

This week children in Kindergarten through 5th grade can explore time in different increments, from lining up in birthday order, to being a clock, and racing against the clock in silly stunts This program helps build math skills through fun activities.

Crazy 8's Math Club: Toilet Paper Olympics
Tuesday, February 10
3:00 p.m.

This week children in Kindergarten through 5th grade can host their own Olympics, measuring their feats using toilet paper. They will do the long jump, the shot put, and finally a relay race with toilet paper unfurling off a paint roller. At the end,the winner will be mummified. Preschool-aged children can also participate this week by tossing bouncy rubber dice to see what numbers they roll. They will also be able to play on a giant human Bingo board. This program helps build math skills through fun activities.

Hershey Kiss Roses Craft

Children, teens, and tweens can stop by the library to make roses using Hershey kisses. Books will be on display and available for checkout.

Advanced Crafting: Heart Wreath Craft

Tweens can stop by the Keyes Library to make a heart wreath just in time for Valentine's Day. Books will be on display and available for checkout.

Crazy 8's Math Club: Spy Training

This week children in Kindergarten through 5th grade are going to learn how to be spies by solving coded messages, cracking codes to find treasure, coding their own phone number, and solving puzzles when they don’t even know the code This program helps build math skills through fun activities.

Crazy 8's Math Club: Flying Marshmallows

This week children in Kindergarten through 5th grade are going to make marshmallow catapults out of plastic spoons, popsicle sticks and rubber bands. Then they will try slingshots. This program helps build math skills through fun activities.

Building STEAM with Dia: Build a Bristlebot

Join us for the reading and discussion of Boy + Bot by A. Dyckman., followed by the exploration of engineering by making a bristlebot. This program is geared to 30 students in Kindergarten - 3rd grade and their families. Refreshments will be served. Building STEAM With Día is sponsored by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC).

Crazy 8s Math: Spy Training

This program is a part of the Salida Library's Tuesdays Are Family Days series. Children can come in their pajamas. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket to sit on. The library will provide a beverage and popcorn. Books will be displayed and available for checkout.
