Join us for a special Safety Story Time. There will be a practice evacuation with our special guests following the Story Time. Children learn about safety in a safe relaxed environment. Staff will practice evacuating a Story Time to learn the most effective way to exit in a real emergency.

Come play . . .with music. Join the Modesto Symphony’s Manager of Education, Amy Sullivan for an exciting, interactive music experience. Kids will have the opportunity to handle and play a variety of instruments, learn about rhythm and get busy with the fun of making music.

Perler Beads

Use the bright colored perler beads to design your own projects using pegboards. Create designs for key chains coasters or just for fun. This program is not for children under 3 years due to the choking hazard of the small parts. Books will be displayed and available for checkout.

Rock Painting

Children and their parents are invited to paint rocks at the Riverbank Library. Paint and rocks will be provided. If you have a special rock you want to paint, bring it and paint it. We will be using acrylic paint, which is fairly permanent so please bring a smock or wear clothing that can get paint on it. Rock painting books will be on display and available for checkout.

Name the Robot

Meet our friendly – but nameless – robot and enter your suggestion for a name. Winning name will be drawn at random and the winner will receive a prize. Children will continue to enjoy the library's emphasis on science programs while helping to name a featured character of the Children's Library. Adults are encouraged to bring a camera to take a photo of children posing with our robot.

Time to play with LEGOs, everyone's favorite building blocks. The Library supplies the LEGOs, you supply the creativity. Children can use creativity to build with LEGO blocks while learning early math and engineering concepts. DUPLO blocks will be available for children under the age of 4. Children ages 4 and under have direct adult supervision.

Magical Magnets

Discover this mysterious invisible force that can both repel and attract other objects. Learn about magnetic properties through hands-on experiments including an electromagnet. This program provides an opportunity for children to learn important science concepts in a fun environment. Science books will be on display and available to check out.

Family Dinner and Movie Night

Children and their families can enjoy a family-friendly movie and picnic dinner at the Library. This month's movie is the Veggie Tales classic, The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything. This program is a part of the Salida Library's Tuesdays Are Family Days series. Children can come in their pajamas. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket to sit on. The library will provide a beverage and popcorn. Books will be displayed and available for checkout.

Aaarh, Mateys. There be pirates aboard. Look for buried treasure and decorate your own treasure chest. Practice talking like a pirate. Children will learn about a colorful era in history while engaging in sensory play. This also provides an opportunity for creativity while decorating a treasure chest to take home. Pirate books will be on display and available to check out.

Book-N-Craft with Tangrams

Challenge your mind and your creativity by listening to the story Three Pigs, One Wolf and Seven Magic Shapes – and then make your own shapes with tangrams. The tangram is an ancient Chinese puzzle that can be arranged to form amazing shapes. You get to take home your own set of tangrams. Books on shapes and math will be on display and available for checkout. This program is designed for school-aged children but can also be enjoyed by preschoolers.

Pencil Case or Supply Box Craft
